Just a note to say a huge thank you to miss sammie designs for magically helping with my IT incompetence and helping restore the original blog post which I somehow managed to disappear, anyway calm is restored, happy reading :0)
AARRGGHH, I am feeling a little frustrated as I have just written a blog about all mine cakes officially receiving gluten free status on 25 cakes I have sent to be laboratory tested and its the first time I didn't copy it before publishing and its been posted as a blank and then in my vain attempts to find it posted a couple more blank posts so I am cursing weebly (although its my incompetence) but I have asked my very lovely IT support to help me remove the blank entries and hide the evidence and you never know the original post may magically appear? However to have a little update today I received an email to say the 25 cakes I sent away to be analysed have all come back as <5mg/kg (ppm) which is the current guidelines for foods to be labelled or classed as a gluten free food so feeling incredibly excited and proud as it gives everyone peace of mind from you the buyer to me the producer and worrying about have I unintentionally "glutened" you although every precaution is taken in the baking process as they are made in an environment which handles gluten. On my website there is a subheading of stockists where my cakes can be found or there is Friday cakes club. On a previous blog post I listed all of my upcoming events where you can find all mine cakes, hopefully see you soon?
As a business you are often asked what is your vision or your goal....Mine is for everyone to be able to enjoy delicious cakes even if you have a food tolerance. With my previous employment history being a nurse and working with those who have inflammatory bowel conditions I noticed years ago there was an opportunity to create delicious cakes for those people who have allergens and my goal was primarily gluten free, those of you who have read my previous blog will know about my adventures, failures, tears and stress at trying to create the perfect gluten free sponge texture, eventually I worked it out and even my digital scales don't read the ingredients accurately so its done by eye. Over time word spread about my free from cakes and I have made some fantastic friends along the way but there was always this niggle in my mind that although the ingredients say gluten free or the age old manufactured in an environment which handles gluten (as does the all mine kitchen) so after nattering with a friend over a cup of tea I mentioned that I would love to get them tested for peace of mind for everyone so you can buy with confidence and I can not worry that I have unintentionally "glutened" you and mentioned in conversation that I want to get them laboratory tested and amazing they would be able to help me so now that I had opportunity it was full steam ahead over the last month and today I have had it officially confirmed that the 25 gluten free cakes which were sent for testing which I produce are <5mg/kg (ppm) as per regulations and have the certificates to prove it! More testing will continue as some of the cakes I produce are seasonal so in the spring a couple more will be analysed so do I list them on here? Your eyes may go boggly but here goes, I'm not going to say gluten free to everything so take it as it is....Award winning triple chocolate brownie, rolo brownie, peanut M & M brownie, award winning taste of winter brownie, millionaire shortbread, christmas cake, simnel cake, black forest gateaux cakes, mint choc chip cakes, lemon curd cake, lemon curd slices, sweetie cupcakes, lemon drizzle, rolo caramel cakes, carrot cakes, orange & almond drizzle cakes, apple cakes, soaked tea loaf cakes, award winning sticky toffee pudding cake, yule log, award winning lime & coconut cake (plus this is dairy free), no bake chocolate chia seed slice (which is dairy free, egg free & vegan), chocolate cakes, Victoria sponge and retro style glace cherry & almond cakes! Now the question is where can you buy them? Please see on my website the stockist subheading which explains everything or there is Friday cake club where you can buy from all mine cakes...I don't have a shop however the next few weeks I am at festive events and markets;
This Saturday (24th October) I am at Southwell Bramley Apple food & drink festival and will be in the Southwell Minster from 10-4pm
On the 30th October I am at Another Be-witching Halloween Party, ticketed event

Any questions don't hesitate to email me and hopefully see you soon?
Gosh, where do I start since I last wrote my blog so much exciting news! You may recall my decision to appeal the results for my entry in The Great Taste Awards 2015 for my no bake chocolate chia seed slice due to what appeared to be confusion over a cocoa nib? Well on second judging I was awarded another magic gold star and the comments were brilliant and apologised over the confusion! So at time of writing I have 5 Great Taste Awards for my cakes which is awesome and one step nearer to one day opening an award winning cake shop! With this in mind I have also been wanting to have my gluten free cakes officially tested (in laboratory conditions) so I can give you guys peace of mind, my first round of 12 cakes went for testing a fortnight ago and have come back less than 5mg/kg (ppm) so I can officially say they are GLUTEN FREE and I have just received the certificates of analysis so I plan to take them with me at events should anyone have any queries or questions, round 2 were sent to the lab today so hopefully next week I should have the result of 25 varieties of all mine cakes which are gluten free, other varieties of cake are to be tested however the ingredients are out of season so in spring round 3 will be created. Other news, as anyone who knows me will know that I am modest when it comes to the achievements of the business and after being persuaded I entered myself into Newark business awards as a new business....Within the next minute lost my confidence and decided not to enter until a lovely lady from the awards tempted me to fill in the application form, it asked so many technical questions about market research, economic growth, future forecasting but I don't have pie charts or statistics so my answers were as if I was sat here chatting to you, I don't expect to hear anything but you never know? Other news, I have had social media icons added to my mobile site so you can click on and see my latest creations and one more event added to the diary on the 30th October which is Another Be-Witching Halloween party organised by the lovely Jo at Southwell Rugby Club so should be a fab afternoon of halloween themed treats and cakes plus I love seeing the little ones all dressed up in their halloween costumes.
Hopefully see you at one of the many upcoming events
