VISIT SOUTHWELL

A Beautiful Minster Town

Southwell is approximately a 45 minute walk away along the bridleway, its high street is alive with independent, local businesses ranging from clothing to interiors, wine shops to florists, gifts to home baking its amazing! Once visited you will be spoilt.

Most shops are closed on Sundays however you can’t beat a good bit of mooching whilst planning your next visit. Southwell is an historical town, it is the home of the original bramley apple tree and so we celebrate this with the annual Bramley Apple Festival, there is the Folk Festival in Summer and the Southwell Ploughing Match usually towards the end of September (not to be missed). It is also the home to the Southwell Minster which is just stunning and just out of town there is The Workhouse, built in 1824 which is now owned by the National Trust. If you love classic cars, just up from the workhouse is one of the best classic car showrooms in the country (tell Charles I sent you). There is a tourist information office situated near the Minster that can guide you to all the fabulous places there are to visit. There are some beautiful surrounding villages with more independent shops, or more lovely walk in the countryside to explore.

A GREAT A PLACE TO EXPLORE ON FOOT OR BIKE

There are some wonderful walks, trails and cycle routes to follow in the Southwell area, and don’t forget to pop by the tearoom to enjoy some refreshments, Award Winning cake and relax before carrying on with the rest of your day.
